Character Respond, Answer, Ask (April Edition)

  • May people not prank you horribly today :|

What is the Character Respond Answer Ask?

Have you ever had a character and you thought, "How do I get to know you better?"

Well, you're in luck. The point of the thread is to get to know your character better, through both serious and ridiculous prompts, with the added bonus of other people getting to know your character, as well!

The way it works is fairly simple. I'll post a question at the bottom of this thread. The next person will come and answer that question, and then leave their own question. Person #2 will come on and think, "That's an interesting question and I want to answer it!" Before they can do that, however, they must post a response to the previous person's answer. Then they can answer the question the first person posted, and then they can leave their own question.

Example scenario: I ask What is your character's least favorite board game?

Person 1: Answers the question (i.e., Charlie really hates [insert board game])

    Leaves their own question.

Person 2: Responds to the answer of Person 1 (I.e., wow, Charlie has a really intense hatred for that board game! Is there a particular reason, or does he just really hate it because she can?)

Answers the question Person 1 left

    Leaves their own question

    And repeat!

    A couple (important) notes:

Style doesn't really matter. You can answer it from your, the author's, POV (Charlie dislikes Risk because blah blah blah), or you can answer it from the character's point of view (Charlie: I hate Risk. That game is so stupid).

Don't feel obligated to answer all the past questions, whether you're new or you're a regular but you haven't been able to participate lately. If there are a couple that really speak out to you, then feel free to answer them, but you don't have to. Also, because sometimes threads can get long and unruly, you don't have to read all the previous posts unless you really want to. Just have a response to the person above you, a question for the person below you, and you're good to go!

Respond to the post above yours. As with the questions, you don't need to respond to everyone's previous posts, but you need to at least respond to the post above yours! That kind of interaction between the author/character is part of what makes the thread fun!

It's okay if your characters get a little distracted and suddenly your post is longer than normal. Happens to everyone. Some people more than others, but I promise, it's okay. Feel free to relax. Seriously.

If you still have any questions, don't be afraid to ask! I promise we aren't as scary as we look. :)

Here's the last question from the previous month: What's your favorite hobby?

  • Think it's time I jump back into this. >.>

    Q: What's your favorite hobby?

What do you kids like to do in your downtime?

Gabrielle: "Does smithing count as a hobby if it's also a source of income?"

Gerald: "That's a good question. If that counts as your job would Hunting then be a hobby?"

    Gabrielle: "No." Pause "No."

Gerald: "I like to fix or build things. And I like to draw."

    Johanna: "Gardening." shrugs

    Sebastian: "I like to read."

Kyle: "I like to explore the premises if I can, but... If I can't I settle for reading."

    Dani: "Pranking." >.>

Lena: "The future leader of this clan, ladies and gents." Laughs

Dani: "Hey, pranking teaches useful skills. Like 'how to get away with crimes' and 'lying through your teeth about committing said crimes'."

Lena: Ponders this "Actually, you have a point."

    Dani: "Damn right I do."

Lena: "I like to read. It teaches useful skills too. You should try it."

Dani: "I read. Just not insane amounts like you."

Lena: "No one reads insane amounts like me. But I'll concede that you sometimes do read."

    Dani: "Thank you."

Eldric: "I like carving things. And sparring." shrugs

Sarah: "Olith. I'm very good at Olith, but... Not a lot of people want to play with me." Frowns

Lena: "That's because you always win. Literally always."

Sarah: "They need to get good." shrugs

    Dani: Chuckles

Q: Would you play a game with someone if you know they're much better at it than you?

  • Dani: "Pranking." >.>

Dani: "Hey, pranking teaches useful skills. Like 'how to get away with crimes' and 'lying through your teeth about committing said crimes'."

    Dani: "Damn right I do."

I agree those are very valuable skills to possess.

Q: Would you play a game with someone if you know they're much better at it than you?

Lienna:thinks for a couple of seconds Yes. Definitely yes. If I know they're better I'll want the opportunity to show them up and therefore become the best. And even if I don't then I'll keep trying

Alba: No. I already have such bad anxiety about doing things I'm good at, let alone something where I'd have no chance

Lienna: Yeah I get that. Although, maybe that'll be your newest "good thing", why waste an oppertunity

Alba: Anxiety. Possible panic attacks. Humiliation, fail-

Lienna: Ok yeah yeah we get it that's a no from you Bob

Alba: slight pause My names Alba, Annie you should know this by now

    Lienna: facepalm

Q: Would you take the chance to achieve your dreams if someone close to you loses the chance to do so forever?

  • @Blackbird It's good that they're finally being polite to you.

...I think smiting would be considered a hobby? No one says you can't make money on your hobbies. And if you also do it for fun/to relax/whatever then that probably adds points towards it being a hobby.

I missed these people tbh >.>

Sarah: "Olith. I'm very good at Olith, but... Not a lot of people want to play with me." Frowns

Rus: I understand that. nods dejectedly

Michael: No one has time to spend four hours playing a game that you badly explain. :|

Rus: There's tutorials. You just don't watch them. >.>

Michael: That... still takes four hours, dude.

    Rus: >.>

@Sunny That's really not a bad reason to keep playing :P

Alba: No. I already have such bad anxiety about doing things I'm good at, let alone something where I'd have no chance

    Aw. Don't do that. :/

Q: Would you play a game with someone if you know they're much better at it than you?

Ceamath: I'll probably beat them ^_^

    Arial: What if you don't?

Ceamath: I'll beat them the next time ^_^

William: Depends on the game. And if there's money involved. And how much I drank that night >.>

Arial: If it's a card game, I'd probably play. Money involved or not. shrugs

Ceamath: You're good at all of them. I don't think they're the type of game in reference.

    William: smirks Still salty?

    Ceamath: deep sigh

Arial: Maybe you'll beat me next time. :)

Ceamath: I'll certainly do my best. :|

Adaellae: I don't see why this would make me not want to play?

    Id'en: I wouldn't. >.>

Q: Would you take the chance to achieve your dreams if someone close to you loses the chance to do so forever?

    William: >.>

Arial: I don't think I have anyone that close to me, so... I dunno if this question applies to me.

Ceamath: I thought you had a... sibling of some form.

Arial: Hard to be close to someone you haven't spoken to in years. shrugs

Ceamath: considers ...I suppose. Personally... Well, I'd say I did that already. I'm a fairly happy woman who accomplished her meager dreams. Not exactly because he lost the chance, though. I just figured out at some point that the way I was living wasn't really honoring his memory.

Adaellae: You murder people in your spare time.

Ceamath: That bit wasn't part of my dreams. I don't think it really factors into this conversation.

Adaellae: I'm only saying, something tells me murdering people isn't honoring him, either.

Ceamath: You can stop talking when you like. :|

    Adaellae: Alright.

Id'en: I... guess? I don't know. My dreams have changed a lot, lately. Because someone close to me lost the chance. :/

    Adaellae: Dreams will do that.

    Id'en: :/

Q: What makes you feel better when you're sad?
