What is the Character Respond Answer Ask?
    As started by @typical_demigod

Have you ever had a character and you thought, "How do I get to know you better?"

Well, you're in luck. The point of the thread is to get to know your character better, through both serious and ridiculous prompts, with the added bonus of other people getting to know your character, as well!

The way it works is fairly simple. I'll post a question at the bottom of this thread. The next person will come and answer that question, and then leave their own question. Person #2 will come on and think, "That's an interesting question and I want to answer it!" Before they can do that, however, they must post a response to the previous person's answer. Then they can answer the question the first person posted, and then they can leave their own question.

Example scenario: I ask What is your character's least favorite board game?

Person 1: Answers the question (i.e., Charlie really hates [insert board game])

    Leaves their own question.

Person 2: Responds to the answer of Person 1 (I.e., wow, Charlie has a really intense hatred for that board game! Is there a particular reason, or does she just really hate it because she can?)

Answers the question Person 1 left

    Leaves their own question

    And repeat!

    A couple notes:

Style doesn't really matter. You can answer it from your, the author's, POV (Charlie dislikes Risk because blah blah blah), or you can answer it from the character's point of view (Charlie: I hate Risk. That game is so stupid).

Don't feel obligated to answer all the past questions, whether you're new or you're a regular but you haven't been able to participate lately. If there are a couple that really speak out to you, then feel free to answer them, but you don't have to. Also, because sometimes threads can get long and unruly, you don't have to read all the previous posts unless you really want to. Just have a response for the person above you, a question for the person below you, and you're good to go!

If you still have any questions, don't be afraid to ask! I promise we aren't as scary as we look. :)

Taking over from last month's post: Q: On a scale of one to ten... How happy are you?

  • Quick reminder: I've noticed in the last thread that sometimes people aren't responding to the post(s) above theirs unless they're specifically asked a question by someone, and then it's only to answer the question. I'd like to remind everyone to please try to respond to at least the last post in the thread when you're typing your answers!

The goal with the Respond portion of the thread is to interact with the person's characters, because there might be something you're interested in, confused on, or just plain enjoy. You responding can also help the person see their character from a new light or see differently how they fit in with some element of their story. Even if all you have to say is "Jerry amuses me", that still counts as a response! :)

(And again, if there are 2+ posts above yours, DO NOT feel obligated to respond to them all or answer all the questions. DO try to respond to the last post on the thread, though.)

    Thank you!

  • That wasn't quite the question from last month, but I'll answer it anyway. lol

Q: On a scale of one to ten... How happy are you?

Gabrielle: "Right now? About a six."

    Gerald: "Eight."

    Gabrielle: "Really?"

Gerald: "Why not? I'm a simple man, I don't need much."

    Johanna: "Three."

    Gerald: "..." hugs

    Johanna: "Eight." >.>

God damn it, stop being adorable, you'll kill me dead. T.T

    Sebastian: "Six."

    Kyle: "Four."

    Dani: "Eeeeeh... Seven, maybe?"

    Lena: "Five. My head hurts."

    As for last month's question...

Q: Do you have a favorite instrument?

Gabrielle: "I have a lyre and I like that very much, but... When I was a kid I wanted an ocarina."

Gerald: "Why didn't your dad give you an ocarina?"

Gabrielle: "I don't know, Tucker. Maybe he didn't know how to make one? I was happy enough with it, I'm not a spoiled brat." >.>

Gerald: chuckle "Okay. I'm just saying, those are pretty different instruments. If it were me the next thing on the list would have been something like a flute..."

    Gabrielle: "Hmph."

    Gerald: "What?"

Gabrielle: "Nothing. Just... My dad was always trying to encourage me to sing, and... You can't do that while playing the flute."

    Gerald: "You can sing?"

Gabrielle: mutters "Not well, I can't."

You know, it's my headcanon that Gabrielle actually could sing really well, but her birth parents convinced her she didn't because they were assholes. >.>

    Johanna: "All music is great."

Kyle: "I really don't know. Having to learn it made me really dislike violins though."

Sebastian: "I wanted a lute. Girls like lutes."

    Kyle: "Pft.."

Dani: "I don't know. I saw one of the Crimson Shadows play a pan flute once. Now that was pretty neat."

Lena: "I don't know. Never cared much for particular instruments, to be honest."

Q: Is there something about you that people really like, but you don't? Or something you can do really well, but don't actually like to?

  • @Blackbird I have waited for a really long time to post this meme in relation to your characters and what you said about headcannon and Gabrielle reminded me of it:

    0_1499205159475_upload-27707600-203f-47c3-8e65-dab8a2bef7ae

even though I don't think I've met an OC of yours that is at all angelic. I get the vibe that they would be willing to kill me if they felt like they had a decent reason (or not one at all, for some of them...).

Q: Is there something about you that people really like, but you don't? Or something you can do really well, but don't actually like to?

Benito: I can do my job well, but I don't like it. I think it's... monotonous.

Michael: Too bad you can't quit :/

    Benito: I agree.

Rus: Apparently I can sometimes be good at talking to people.

    Michael: Why is that bad...?

Rus: Idk. I feel like a lot of people don't actually want to talk to me, they're just forced to because it's socially impolite to say to someone's face that you want them to shut up.

    Michael: -_-

    Rus: Don't glare at me.

Nelly: When I was younger people used to tell me that they thought I was quiet and listened a lot, especially by teachers, and now I'm annoyed because I find it hard to talk about my opinions.

Michael: I can give good pep talks, but sometimes it makes me really angry that there are people who don't know how to be self-confident. I just want people to already be self-confident and happy with themselves.

Q: Do you think you are generally a confident person?

  • @typical_demigod

That made me laugh. Surprised that this is what did it, though. All things considered, it wasn't that horrible of me. :P

Rus: Apparently I can sometimes be good at talking to people.

Rus: Idk. I feel like a lot of people don't actually want to talk to me, they're just forced to because it's socially impolite to say to someone's face that you want them to shut up.

I can relate. Especially when I talk about my characters. I don't think people realize that I will ramble even if you only asked to be polite. >.>

Q: Do you think you are generally a confident person?

    Gabrielle: "I'm confident enough."

    Gerald: "Yes."

    Johanna: "I can be."

Gerald: "She can. It's actually a bit scary if you're not expecting it."

Gabrielle: "That's mostly because Jo is most confident with a blade in her hands."

Sebastian: "I am... Yet to see that."

    Johanna: "Soon enough." smirk

Kyle: "I don't consider myself all that confident to be honest. Not nearly as much as this one at least..." points at Sebastian

Sebastian: "If you were... We'd probably be dead by now."

Dani: "Ha. No. No, I'm not. At least, I don't feel that I am."

Lena: "I think you can be."

    Dani: "You are."

Lena: "Not all the time. And definitely not about everything."

Q: What do you consider one of your proudest moments?

  • @Blackbird I wanted to post it when I found it, but nothing particularly horrific came up, and that was a bad thing, so I figured I would post it now or else I would forget about it forever :P

Gabrielle: "That's mostly because Jo is most confident with a blade in her hands."

We all have that one thing we're good at.

Q: What do you consider one of your proudest moments?

Benito: Hmm. I have a few.

    Nelly: is concerned

Michael: I successfully became a successful adult. I think people were worried for a minute that I wouldn't be able to do that. I know I was worried about it.

Rus: You know, I graduated high school, and that was a lot of work for me.

Benito: I went to Earth, and I met her family points at Nelly, and she has a really... hmm, frustrating... sister... and guess what I didn't do?

    Nelly: sigh

Her sister was a jerk. Nelly ended up being the one to confront her sister about it, much to her disappointment.

Nelly: I think a proud moment was when I bought a car. Those things are expensive, and I bought one. pause And then moved to Mars, but that's not the point.

Q: What was your first job?

  • @typical_demigod said in Character Respond Answer Ask (July Edition):

Benito: I went to Earth, and I met her family points at Nelly, and she has a really... hmm, frustrating... sister... and guess what I didn't do?

I'm proud for you, dude. I either have ALL the restraint or none and I never know which one it is until someone ticks me off. :P

Q: What was your first job?

Gabrielle: "Hmph. I played the tambourine while the older girls in my family danced and did fire tricks... while the boys went around picking people's pockets. That's when I was... Five, maybe? It's the earliest I can remember." shrugs

    Johanna: "Thief."

Gerald: "I was in the military."

Sebastian: "Uh... This counts as a job?"

Gabrielle: "I'm not paying you a wage if that's what you're asking."

Kyle: "We never had a job, I think. This doesn't count."

Gerald: "It's more like... Hm... Volunteer work."

Dani: "Technically, I'm not allowed a job until I finish training. I do work around the camp sometimes. Often fixing things I break, but sometimes just because I like to."

    Lena: "Killing people."

Q: What would you like your obituary to say?

  • Plotist Team: Community Storyteller

Muahaha, I'm back! Right, this month I bring my current tabletop character to the thread. Tirzah is a fun study of nature and it's opposites.

@blackbird - Doh about me getting the question wrong. Johanna and Gerald, so adorable! I'm curious as to what would make Gabrielle happy. She always seems so serious. Not say serious people can't be happy, but I wonder what would bring a smile to her face. And man, I have to say of all your characters, Gabrielle deserves such a big hug. She can come across as prickly, but I love her. ...oh Gabrielle! "Confident enough!" Eep. I just wanna glomp her!

@typical_demigod Woah, woah, woah. Benito can't just quit? And man, Michael, if like were just that easy. If only! I'd love to have every character, heck even myself, just be self-confident and happy! Wishful thinking! And poor Nelly. A costly investment, only to leave the planet! And lol Sebastian eager to get paid. :D

Q: On a scale of one to ten... How happy are you?
At the moment, more around a three. I had the misfortune of being stuck between two individuals whose power washed over me in such a way that I experienced a moment where I unconditionally loved my fake parents entirely for all the torture and abuse they put my family through growing up. That... hurts. I don't think I could ever forgive myself for that one moment of feeling like I could forgive them for the pain they brought on me and my brothers.

Q: Do you have a favorite instrument?
This may sound a bit cliche, but for me, it is the the Original Magic. One of my older brothers has the ability to turn the energy and original magic of the world into music. There is nothing like it. I hope that counts as an instrument. If not, well... oops!

Q: Is there something about you that people really like, but you don't? Or something you can do really well, but don't actually like to?
I'm incredibly good a lying. A trait learned through hard upbringing and being a member of a species that most mundanes... er humans.. don't like to believe exist. I use it in my job. Considering I work for internal affairs for a rather large military organisation, I need to be good at it. But in general, I can't stand it. I prefer the Truth in all things, but I understand the necessity for deception.

Q: Do you think you are generally a confident person?
I think too much for my own good. Recently we noticed a cop following us. I walked right up to them and demanded they ask questions directly to us, see I hate subterfuge and lying. So, I totally thought I could handle it. My older brother on the other hand had to keep me from getting arrested for tormenting a cop. I act before thinking sometimes. Just really bothers me, ya know?

Q: What do you consider one of your proudest moments?
It has to be the creation of an entirely new species on Earth. So, my brothers and I had this fantastic idea to have to create a kind of golem-esque protector for our house. We're Luminaries, something humans consider mages, wizards, witches, whatever. Our idea however involved taking a creature from another dimension, and giving them a physical home in the golem-type creature here in our dimension of reality. Turns out, that's not as easy as I thought. I ended up working for several months, locked in what I can only guess at being a pocket dimension to complete the ritual. It was difficult, time consuming, and I was 17 when I did it. Now our Cane protects our home while we are away at work.

Q: What was your first job?
My first job was tutoring other students in our special school on what people consider magic. My family has a natural affinity for magic, and a touch of psionics, so I made sure to help everyone out. Granted, being the "teacher's pet" caused some issues, but I have ways of dealing with bullies.

Q: What would you like your obituary to say? Tirzah went down fighting, protecting her family from falling prey to the vicious bigots of the world. She helped put the might of Tsunami, our country's military force on the map. Her family will love and miss her, but there have been rumours that they are seeking a few individuals who specialise in raising the dead.

  • @Blackbird I think volunteer work counts as a job. I thought they were doing training, though?

@Josey Benito (and all of them actually) is contractually obligated to remain in the military for... ~10-12 years? It's never spelled out precisely in-story, but when it's brought up in-story, he says he has at least a couple more deployments before he can retire, which is ~10 years.

If he wants to leave, I guess there might be a way to leave, but then he's repaying his student debt, and that is a lot of money that he can never afford. That, or go AWOL and hope to never be found :P

This may sound a bit cliche...

my favorite words to hear before someone introduces something original to the world.

Therefore, because this is cliche: No, Tirzah, it does not count. Every musical instrument had to be original. And obviously, Original Magic isn't original.

    Gosh, Tirzah.

Q: What would you like your obituary to say?

    Nelly: "Cornelia Gillespie--"

    Benito: "Was a badass linguist."

Nelly snorts "was actually terrible at hand-to-hand combat"

Benito: "and also, despite being a linguist, takes a word for one meaning and refuses to think about it in any other way."

Nelly: What does being a linguist have to do with that?

Benito: I would think that you have a better understanding of how words work than the average person.

Nelly: I mean, maybe. But. Mostly I specialized in other languages, not English.

    Benito: You should've done both.

Rus: "Michael Santos was an asshole. Everyone agrees with this universal law, including his husband. People are a little sad that he's dead, but also a little happy, because now they don't have to listen to him be a jerk."

    Michael: ...

    Rus: That's your obit.

Michael: "Shephyrus Moshnami really liked to jump to conclusions--"

Rus: What conclusions? I'm pretty sure the only people I haven't heard call you an asshole are some of your in-laws and your parents.

Michael: You've met my parents once in passing and I don't think you've ever talked to Dylan's family.

Rus: I met them once. I mean, you never really came up in conversation, so I didn't hear their opinion of you, but I'm sure they were thinking the whole time, "Man, this guy is really annoying. I bet he does it on purpose."

    Michael: You know what.

Part of a scene I just wrote:

“I wish you weren’t super tall.”
“I wish you would shut up about that.”
Michael tilted his face up to look at Dylan. “It hurts my neck to look at you.”
Dylan rolled his eyes. “You’re an ass.”

    Anyway.

Q: Do you tend to work better or worse under pressure?

  • @Josey I'm glad the Hunters are so likable. lol

Just remember that when things get really ugly later. >.>

Tirzah went down fighting, protecting her family from falling prey to the vicious bigots of the world. She helped put the might of Tsunami, our country's military force on the map. Her family will love and miss her, but there have been rumours that they are seeking a few individuals who specialise in raising the dead.

    Great obituary.

    whispers didyouforgettoleaveaquestionthough? XD

    @typical_demigod

Yeah, the boys are in training still but when they're done, hunting assassins would be their first 'job'.

    lol, Michael.

I really like writing assholes. The biggest asshole amongst my characters in the RPs died and boy do I miss writing him. It was so much fun.

Benito: I would think that you have a better understanding of how words work than the average person.

I have been told this a few times. Mostly because I love to point out how stupid some figures of speech are when taken literally and the fact people will blurt out said stupid things without actually thinking about why they're even saying these things.

Q: Do you tend to work better or worse under pressure?

Gabrielle: "The same? I mean, hunting assassins is pretty stressful overall and working the forge is what I do to relax. And I'm equally competent at both those things."

Gerald: "I don't know what it's like to not work under pressure. Say what you want about the Newhaven military... Their training program isn't for the weak minded."

Johanna: "It's not as if I get to choose, so it doesn't matter, really."

Sebastian: "I do okay under pressure."

Dani: "Failure means death or worse and we're always constantly reminded of that, so... It's either pressure or nothing in this line of work."

Lena: "You just need to learn to cope." >.>

My friend asked me this about Crys and her parents and I thought it was funny to think about, so...

Q: If you met your parents when you were all seventeen, do you think you'd be friends?

  • @Blackbird You're the person where someone says "literally" instead of "figuratively" and you point it out, aren't you?

Pressure sucks. Would they get used to that amount of pressure so that it becomes normal, though?

Q: If you met your parents when you were all seventeen, do you think you'd be friends?

...but.... i don't know anything about their parents? Like, you're writing a prequel, so you know what they're like when they're 17, so I can see that being amusing, but I barely know what these peoples' parents are like now, let alone when they were 17 XD

Michael: Probably at least my dad, because we have a lot in common, but I dunno about my mom. It would probably be one of those mutual friends things, where I hang out with her because I'm hanging out with him. pauses Actually, I'm not sure if they knew each other when they were seventeen?

Rus: I have no idea what my parents were like when they were seventeen.

Benito: When I was seventeen? pauses We might've known each other in passing, but we definitely wouldn't have actually really communicated or anything. was still on drugs at seventeen ((Well, part of it, anyway. :P))

Nelly: Huh. I dunno. I think maybe. My parents are both fairly extroverted, so they wouldn't have had a problem introducing themselves to me and hanging out with me. Outside of my sister's friends, I didn't really have my own friends, so it would've been cool, for me, to hang out with them.

Q: Do you like tea? (it doesn't matter what kind. Just the drink in general. If it's only a specific tea and zero others, then feel free to specify.)

  • @typical_demigod lol, not unless I'm actively trying to annoy them, no. For me, it's more actual expressions like "I don't give a rat's ass" or "everything but the kitchen sink" or "quitting cold turkey" things that if you take literally and you don't know they're expressions, they make no goddamn sense. Because, English being my second language, that stuff stands out to me a lot. Whereas to native English speakers in my life, it's like... Yeah, that's a totally normal thing to say and I'm the weird one for questioning it. -.-

lol, sorry. It's not just because I'm writing a prequel though... I usually tend to figure out how my characters were brought up and how they relate to their parents when I create them. So... Even if I didn't know what their parents were like at 17, I'd know what they'd say about it; whether it's true or not.

And I guess I'll answer that now because we have all gone on enough about how amazing tea is. :P

Q: If you met your parents when you were all seventeen, do you think you'd be friends?

Gabrielle: "My birth parents? Definitely not. My real parents? Uhm... Possibly. I don't know what they were like at seventeen, but I don't see why I wouldn't be friends with them."

Gerald: "I can't imagine my parents as teenagers. Especially my mother. No, that's... Definitely weird. I might have been friends with my dad, but my mom would probably think I was a bit of a jerk. Because as my mother she already kind of did. She thought it was amusing, but I was her kid; she had to love me either way."

    Johanna: "No."

Gabrielle: "Did you not like your parents?"

Johanna: "They were my parents so I loved them. I just disliked them as people."

    Gabrielle: "..."

Johanna: "I don't understand it either."

Kyle: "I don't know almost anything about our mother and I don't think we would be friends with dad at that age."

Sebastian: "That depends on what we'll be like at seventeen."

Kyle: "True. Ask again in four years."

Dani: "I'm not seventeen yet, but... I'm pretty sure I'd be great friends with my birth father. Mom says I'm a stubborn idiot just like him."

Lena: "I'm not sure she means that as a compliment exactly."

Dani: "Probably not, but we'd have that in common."

Lena: "I don't want to think about my birth parents. At all. And I don't think we would be friends. As for mom and dad... Probably. I mean, I'd definitely be friends with mom, but Dad... I don't have that much tolerance for stubborn idiots other than Dani. And, although Joe and I get along pretty well now... I hear he wasn't all that much better back then either."

    Passing this along:

Q: Do you like tea? (it doesn't matter what kind. Just the drink in general. If it's only a specific tea and zero others, then feel free to specify.)

    or

Q: If your parents weren't your parents would you still like them? Do you think they're good people?

  • @Blackbird I can understand that. When you actually think about them, as a native English speaker, they still don't make sense. There's some history somewhere for them, but it's not worth it to look it up :P

The characters I know very well, I have an idea what their parents are like, so I can think about them when they were younger, but then there's also having to think, how people act when they're 35+ vs. when they're under 20 can sometimes be pretty different.

All these people have terrible birth parents. (Or dead birth parents, if their parents were any good at being... parents.)

    Q: Do you like tea?

    Rus: I don't think I've ever had tea :/

    Michael: It's usually pretty sweet.

    Rus: Ew.

Michael Unless you get the stuff like chamomile or whatever. I don't know for sure, though, cuz I've never really drank anything that isn't something you can get at a restaurant. I don't know many restaurants that serve stuff like chai tea.

Benito: I don't drink tea very much.

Nelly: I guess. I like drinking it in winter to warm me up. I always thought hot cocoa was kinda flavorless, and I can have the marshmallows without the drink, so...

Q: If your parents weren't your parents would you still like them? Do you think they're good people?

    Benito: I love my parents.

    Nelly: That's... not the question.

Benito: I'm just saying, I can't imagine not liking them, even if they're not related to me. And they're good people, unless my father was secretly the head of an evil cult somewhere.

Nelly: I think I would. I think they're like any other people. They're generally good, but they have aspects that I don't necessarily agree with.

Rus: Lemme think. Two-thirds of my parents were dead before I was a teenager.

Michael: Yeah, I guess. I don't get why we're obsessed with parent questions now. I'm also not really sure how we'd meet our parents if they weren't our parents, but okay.

Rus: I probably wouldn't ever talk to my mom. She didn't get out much. So I wouldn't know her well enough to know if I would like her or if she's good. Supposedly I had a really great relationship with my dad when he was sober, but as it stands now, I don't want to think about that. I remember doing a lot of random things with my gyloshipai, so I guess I'd like los, but my memories are really, really random.

Q: Are you scared of fire?

  • @typical_demigod I'd be worried about the 'dead parents' thing being excessive if people didn't drop like flies in Valcrest on a regular basis. As is I don't feel there's much I can do about it. :/

What kind of hot cocoa has Nelly been drinking? ^.-

Q: Are you scared of fire?

Kyle: "..." twitch "Why is everyone looking at me like that?" >.>

Sebastian: "No reason. None at all." snort

Kyle: sighs and touches the burn scar on his jaw "It's... Not fire that scares me."

Gabrielle: "I don't feel there's anything to fear in fire itself. Like the kid says." shrug

Gerald: "Can't say fire is something that scares me."

    Johanna: "No."

Dani: "Kind of? I mean. We live in a forest."

Lena: "You should stop playing with minor explosives if that bothers you."

Dani: "I know it doesn't seem like it, but I'm actually very careful."

Q: Do you have any irrational fears?

  • @Blackbird I don't know. A bad kind, apparently.

Kyle: sighs and touches the burn scar on his jaw "It's... Not fire that scares me."

I have a fire elemental and this is pretty much his motto. He doesn't even think about using it because he accidentally killed people ... >.>

Q: Do you have any irrational fears?

Benito: I've always been scared of asphyxiation. At various points in my life, it wasn't actually irrational, but it's still something I've always been scared of. I don't like things over my face for that reason.

Michael: Technically it's a risk in space.

Benito: Technically, it's a risk anywhere.

    Rus: Being physically alone.

Nelly: That everyone I know will realize I'm a fraud and--

    Benito: You're not. A fraud.

    Nelly: I know that--

    Benito: You literally just said--

Michael: Heights. It doesn't have to be very high and I'll freak out.

Rus: You lived on the third floor for your entire life.

Michael: And I kept all of the curtains closed all the time.

Q: Do you like to hike?

    Benito: You literally just said--

Irrational fears. They be irrational. And yeeeeah, I can relate. :/

I've been saying that a lot about your characters. Stop that. :P

Q: Do you like to hike?

Gabrielle: "Not particularly, but it is how I go places, so it's not like there's much of a choice."

Gerald: "Kind of. I mean, just walking for the sake of, you know, enjoying the scenery for once does have its merits."

Kyle: "If training's over then I'm not moving another muscle. And that's final." crosses arms

Gerald: chuckle "Don't tempt me, boy. I could easily incorporate hiking into you training now."

Sebastian: "Twins' mercy, Kyle. You need to learn to stop complaining before you kill us both." glare

Johanna: "I like to hike. It's calming."

Dani: "Oooh, I like hiking. I love exploring the forest. It's so much fun."

Lena: "Sometimes. If the weather's good and my headaches aren't too bad."

Dani: "We need to have a picnic on my next day off."

Lena: "I'll think about it. If you behave."

    Dani: "..." weighs her options

Q: Do you know what your first word was?

  • @Blackbird
Q: Do you know what your first word was?

Jenna: I believe mine was "Ma-ma".
Jake: (grins) Mine was "Get your a**e outta the way, Jen!"
Jenna: (stares blankly at him) Where do I even begin to describe what's wrong with that statement?
Jake: (shrugs) Okay, Jennifer, dissect me.
Jenna: (rolling her eyes) First of all, you don't come out at two seconds old knowing how to talk. Secondly, I'm not dissecting you, I'm merely pointing out what you said was completely wrong—(Jake scoffs)—and third, that's not one word, moron.
    Fallon: Mine was definitely "Da".
Izzy: Aww, that's cute. My first word was "Po-po".
    Shaan: (tiny frown) Po-po?
Izzy: (smiling shyly) I'd seen a puppy on TV, and I got excited. What about you?
    Shaan: It was... (thinks) "Anne".
    Fallon: "An-neh"?
    Shaan: Turkish for mother.
Alex: (shifting in his seat) I, uhh... I don't actually know my first word. The Harrisons adopted me after I started speaking. It was probably something dumb like "uh-oh" or "juice".
Jenna: It probably wasn't as bad as Jake's.
Jake: (suddenly alarmed) Jen... don't you dare!
Fallon: Oooooh! C'mon, Jenna, we wantae know!
Jake: (going bright red) No, no you don't!
Shaan: (quietly) Actually, we do c-:
Izzy: (suddenly bursts out laughing, doubled over)
Jenna: (deadpan) Whoops. I guess she read my mind.
Jake: NOOOOOOOO! (to Izzy) You do not. Breathe. A word. Of this. Got it?
Izzy: (wiping away tears) Oh my Lord, I wouldn't dream of it.
Alex: ...I don't think we're ever going to find out, are we?
Jenna: Well, it started with an acci—
Jake: (immediately puts his hand over her mouth) No. Not another word.
Jenna: (removes his hand) Fine. But the next question we answer, you're telling the whole story.

Q: If you were able to go on holiday/vacation to absolutely anywhere, where would you go and why?

  • @Blackbird But mine don't die tragically. (Maybe. One is up in the air. That also assumes that you don't become sympathetic for side characters, because a decent amount die random, violent deaths.)

Gabrielle just wants a car tbh.

@Shy_Not_Fly17 Hey! Welcome to the group! I'm excited to get to know these peeps! ^_^

Are Jake and Jenna related? It seems weird for her to know his first word otherwise.

Q: Do you know what your first word was?

Rus: Wait, people know this stuff?

Benito: Supposedly I said my aunt's name first and it was at that point my parents realized they should probably get better work hours :/

Nelly: Probably 'mama' or 'daddy' or something like that.

Michael: I said a basketball player's name and my dad has always been proud of that. My mom isn't, she's been concerned for me since then, but my dad is.

Q: If you were able to go on holiday/vacation to absolutely anywhere, where would you go and why?

Benito: I would stay home and kidnap Dora's kids for a few days and then, when I'm tired of listening to children fight, because that's all her kids do, I'll give them back to her. Sugar high, of course.

    Nelly: I'm down with that.

Benito: Plus I could see the memorial garden ^_^

In this scenario, it should be noted that Nelly would be doing more of the childcare and Benito would be doing more of the "what crazy things can we do (and get away with) that are possibly dangerous but still awesome" because he has no idea how to actually care for children.

Michael: I mean... Not to be that guy, especially cuz it's usually not me, but do travel times factor into this?

Rus: I'mma guess your answer would be Earth, so no. You managed to get a military ship to take you.

Michael: Aww. Yeah, it would be Earth. I probably wouldn't leave, though. Which... would be problematic.

Rus: You would leave because you wouldn't want to go to jail.

    Michael: That's true.

Rus: I would probably go to Shanghai and crash my brother's place. His spouses would be so grumpy ^_^

Q: What kind of relationship do you have with your sibling? If you don't have a sibling, what kind of relationship do you have with your best friend? If you don't have a best friend (or at least a friend), do you want a hug?

  • @typical_demigod It's entirely possible that I become sympathetic for side characters.

And yes, I know all my character have a horrible time. Thank you. -.-

To be fair, Dani is the character whose answers you've related to the most, if I recall correctly, and she doesn't die (here). And she doesn't die THAT tragically.

Well, it's pretty sad, but it's natural causes (sort of).

Jake: "Ask anyone in the Wolfpack and they'll tell you otherwise."

Well, we really know what happened, though, don't we?

Jake: "My name is soiled from this. And let's not talk how it affected mine and Crys' relationship."

Jake, you're not supposed to be here! >.<

    Fucks sake. sigh

Gabrielle gets motion sickness from horses, so she has to walk everywhere, but shhh... don't tell anyone. >.>

Rus: I would probably go to Shanghai and crash my brother's place. His spouses would be so grumpy ^_^

    Rus is adorable. >.>

@Shy_Not_Fly17 Hey, good to see you here!

Also, not that big of a deal, but try to respond to the last poster's answers in the future. Any response at all is valid. Engaging each other's characters and character ideas is quite honestly the fun part of this. ^.^

Jake and Jenna remind me of my twins and Immediately love them. >.>

Jenna: It probably wasn't as bad as Jake's.
Jake: (suddenly alarmed) Jen... don't you dare!
Fallon: Oooooh! C'mon, Jenna, we wantae know!
Jake: (going bright red) No, no you don't!
Shaan: (quietly) Actually, we do c-:
Izzy: (suddenly bursts out laughing, doubled over)
Jenna: (deadpan) Whoops. I guess she read my mind.

    1. Yes, we DO want to know. o.<

    2. As they say in Valcrest; goddamn telepaths, they be everywhere. :P

Q: If you were able to go on holiday/vacation to absolutely anywhere, where would you go and why?

Gabrielle: "Arcadia. I've been to Terra, but never that far into it. And the outskirts are a dump. I mean, they're an interesting dump, but nonetheless."

Johanna: "Gerry said we could go to the desert."

Gerald: "Yes, we absolutely should go to the desert and look at the stars." grin

    sigh goddamn it.

Sebastian: "Uhm, you know, I would go to our dad's hometown if I could. I wonder if we still have family there."

    Kyle: "Well..."

    Sebastian: "Other than him."

    Gerald: "Where is it?"

Sebastian: "Somewhere in Mistivale. He didn't talk much about home, but I'm sure we could figure it out from there."

Gerald: "Well, Mistivale is actually smaller than Valcrest, so it's possible."

Dani: "I'd like to see the ocean. It must be really cool to be on a boat just in the middle of nowhere, just water as far as your eyes can see."

Lena: "I would never, ever, get on a boat. Ever."

    Dani: chuckle "Why not?"

    Lena: "Just. No."

Dani: "Where would you go then?"

Lena: "I'd really like to see Effort."

    Dani: "Effort is gone, though."

Lena: "Yes, but the ruins are still there. I mean, historians say that it was one of the most beautiful places in the world; a city built within the mountains. It must still be quite a sight."

Dani: "Isn't it extremely dangerous to go there now, though?"

Lena: "Just making the trip is pretty straining. Getting into the city is a whole other story, but... I'd like to go one day."

Dani: sigh "And I'm reckless." -.-

Lena: "Don't worry, I'll be careful. I'd be safer in the mountains than you would be in a boat."

Q: What kind of relationship do you have with your sibling? If you don't have a sibling, what kind of relationship do you have with your best friend? If you don't have a best friend (or at least a friend), do you want a hug?

sigh this question... my characters... snort

Gabrielle: "My siblings are dead, so... I miss them. That's our relationship."

Gerald: "Twins, Porter, be a little less bleak, will you?"

Gabrielle: "If you have a more uplifting way to say 'my entire family is dead', I'd love to hear it, Tuck." arches eyebrow

Gerald: "Okay, okay, fair enough. Uhm, I don't have any siblings... I feel we've been over this... But I guess, you two are my best friends."

    Gabrielle: "Only friends, rather."

Gerald: "True. Very true." snort "Porter, as you can see, enjoys making her jabs at me, which I'll gladly take; she wasn't this comfortable with me when we first met. Over time I think we've gotten to a place of mutual respect and understanding. We disagree on most things and we can be jerks to each other about those things; constantly, without any form of reservations and it's actually pretty nice to have the freedom to bluntly speak your mind to someone like that without fear of judgment."

Gabrielle: "In the end of the day we get along better than most simply by being assholes to each other."

Gerald: chuckle "Yes." sigh "Jo is... A different case entirely."

    Johanna: "...?"

Gerald: "I think I'd describe our relationship as 'needlessly complicated' sometimes. We care about each other a lot, a whole lot, but at the same time we don't always understand each other and that makes for a lot of hurt feelings where there should be none and a lot of frustration where there should be none."

    Johanna: "We try."

Gerald: smiles "We do try. I mean, honestly, we could never be angry at each other for very long, still, however little it lasts; pain is still pain, it should be avoided." shrug

    Johanna: "...Alex is complicated."

Gerald: "Your brother isn't complicated, Jo, he's..."

    Johanna: "He's still my brother."

    Gerald: sigh "Fair enough."

Kyle: "My brother's a little jerk who constantly tried to murder me when were kids." >.>

Sebastian: "For the last time; I wasn't trying to freeze you to death! And you agreed being a human snowman would be cool."

    Kyle: "And the ants."

Sebastian: "I still don't remember doing that. It's pretty much just your word at this point."

    Kyle: =.=

Dani: "Lena is an insufferable know it all and Sarah is a bigger troublemaker than I could ever be. I love them to bits."

Lena: "I think Sarah has the advantage of being a little kid still and the fact that we don't have to actually be responsible for her in any official sense yet. She's not in training, we don't have to tutor her... She gets a lot more sister time from both of us. Whereas I have to be your instructor 90% of the time and you're an infuriating brat, so I have to scold you constantly for both our sakes, which makes it so when we're off duty, so to speak, we just really need to take a break from each other's faces."

Dani: "... See, we need to have that picnic."

    Lena: "We probably should."

Q: What's something you keep telling yourself you really want to do and never gets around to it?

  • @Blackbird I have never identified as hard with a character as I have with Dani and it freaks me out tbh ._.

I need to figure out what Rus's actual relationship is with his in-laws because he always claims to have a terrible relationship with them/that they don't like him but tbh I don't think Nik would marry them if that were the case.

a city built within the mountains.

In my fantasy world on the other RAA there's a castle in Othornia built into a mountain. Which is somewhat less impressive than a city, but there's also several volcanoes in that mountain range.

Also, that reminds me that I really need to go through the history of that world because I don't know any of it.

Kyle and Sebastian make me think of my younger brothers. It's a good thing we don't have snow here because one of them would do that to the other one.

    @Shy_Not_Fly17

Also, not that big of a deal, but try to respond to the last poster's answers in the future. Any response at all is valid. Engaging each other's characters and character ideas is quite honestly the fun part of this. ^.^

    Yes, please do! ^_^

Q: What's something you keep telling yourself you really want to do and never gets around to it?

    Rus: Go to school.

Michael: You don't want to do that.

Rus: I tell myself I do.

    Michael: ...

Rus: It hasn't worked yet, unfortunately.

    Michael: I wonder why.

    Benito: I want a house.

Nelly: I want a house with a yard.

Benito: No. Just a house. Without a yard.

okay well imagine an argument about living on Earth or Mars and consider this post done because that's where this is going and i'm really not in the mood for that.

Nelly: I've always wanted a kid but I've never gotten around to that.

Benito: blinks, then frowns in confusion, because that is a weird answer to this question

Michael: I want to get a dog.

I know this isn't relevant to anything, but we've had conversations about body swapping here, and my siblings are watching a show in which all the characters switched bodies. (The vocal cords stayed with the bodies, though.)

Q: Do you like your voice, or do you wish you had a different one?
